Insurance for Journalists en la 24 Reunión Anual de la Fundación del Club de Prensa de New York

Our own Frank Giglio, one of the team at Insuranceforjournliast.com, was at the 24th Annual New York Press Club Foundation 1-day conference on Journalism held at NY University to hear discussions on The Press and the 2016 Presidential Election, Covering Sports Analog Reporters in the Digital Age, Digital Media – Keeping It legal and several other panel events.

The event is informative gathering of journalists, journalism students, academics, and those in the know looking to learn from the best.

Frank was a member of the panel Conflict/War Reporting – The Foreign Frontier with Derek Henry Flood – an independent Journalists who travel extensively in the Middle East, Asia and Africa since 1993 and appeared on CNN International, BBC Arabic, France 24 and Al Arabiya.

Frank said, “After years spent in the media I’ve come to realise how important affordable insurance is to those covering conflict and unrest at home and abroad. Insurance is really vital for those with families and responsibilities back home. As part of insuranceforJournalist.com and being involved in our work with major News organisations, I can see how long overdue this has been for reporters and fixers everywhere”.

Alongside Frank were other well-known media professionals, there to share their experience, including:

Michael Kamber photojournalist for 25 years and has reported on conflicts in Afghanistan,  Somalia, Iraq, and Africa. He photographed the Iraq war for the NY Times 2003 – 2010.

Judith Matloff teaches conflict reporting at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and is a contributing editor of the Columbia Journalism Review. She was a staff correspondent for Reuters and later served as Moscow Bureau Chief for Christian Science Monitor.

Frank himself has 42 years of broadcasting experience. ABC News New York/London 1969-2001. Work for 20/20, World News Tonight, Special Events and Nightline. Covered the South African Election, War in Bosnia 93/98, Somalia 92/93, Hong Kong Handover and US Embassy Bombing in Kenya. Before joining the team at insuranceforjournalists.com he served as a operations manager for Fox News 2001 – 2011 setting up and managing bureaus in Baghdad, Kabul, Islamabad, Amman, Kuwait and Doha.

The New York Press Club honoured Irene Cornell into their Hall of Fame who has been a reporter for WCBS Newsradio 88 for 45 years.
